Who We Are
At Tomball Bible Church, we are a group of people with different backgrounds and experiences with one key thing in common. We have experienced the forgiveness and love that only God offers through His Son, Jesus. We believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and that He is seated at the right hand of God the Father. We believe that God offers forgiveness as a free gift to those who respond to that message in faith. That good news shapes everything we do, because it defines who we are. We are a body of people experiencing the life-changing love of Jesus and striving to live that out in authentic relationships with each other locally and in the world around us.
Purpose and Philosophy of Ministry
We have spent a considerable amount of time in thought and prayer to define several guiding principles in our pursuit of Christ and His desire for our Church. We have identified five key pursuits that shape our understanding of what it means to love Jesus and serve others.
Reach
We believe that the role of the Church is to proclaim the good news of Jesus’ death for our sins and resurrection to the entire world (Acts 1:8). Tomball Bible is committed to reaching people with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ. We believe that God calls each of us to reach out to the people that He has placed around us. We also believe that missions initiatives, both local and overseas, honor God and are significant to the Church. These initiatives are driven by God’s love for the world and are dependent upon the power of His Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:14&15).
Connect
We believe that one of God’s biggest dreams for us, as the Church, is to engage in authentic and meaningful relationships in which people have the opportunity to know & be known, love and be loved, pray and be prayed for (Romans 12:9-16).
We believe that this connection happens best in Life Groups, on serving teams, and through church activities. We desire for everyone who attends Tomball Bible to be connected to a group of people with whom they can share and do life.
Grow
At Tomball Bible, we desire to help everyone we meet develop a closer relationship with God. We realize that everyone is at a different point in his spiritual journey, but the goal for each of us is to become more like Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:28). God is always calling us to the next step in following Jesus.
We believe those next steps are best pursued through investing time in the study of God’s Word, prayer, and personal relationships with growing Christians. Regular participation in Worship Services and Life Groups are key ways to grow at Tomball Bible.
Serve
At Tomball Bible, we are convinced that serving God and others is a crucial part of spiritual growth. Jesus consistently modeled this for us in His life and ministry (Mark 10:45). One of the reasons that God brought us into a relationship with Himself is so that we can serve one another (Ephesians 2:10). By putting our faith to work in practical everyday ways, we help build up the body of Christ and we recognize that, ultimately, it is Jesus Christ we are serving when we serve another person (Ephesians 4:12). God has given each person Spiritual Gifts to enable our acts of service to be fruitful and enjoyable.
Honor
We have chosen to use the word Honor to describe what we mean in the Church when we discuss worship. Worship, at its very core, is a decision to honor God and His only Son, Jesus. Worshiping and honoring Jesus is truly the culmination of our entire life, as well as our ministry as a Church. The entire life of a Christian is summed up in Romans 12:1, when the Bible urges us to live our lives as an “act of worship.” Worshipping Jesus should be the all-encompassing goal of a Christian’s life and of the Church as a whole.
